As our team prepares to partake in the American Hair Loss Council’s Annual Conference being held here in Nashville, we thought it would be great to offer some details around hair treatment technology, newest treatments, and details on restoration solutions.
Hair Loss Prevention:
Start early. When you notice more hair is shedding verses growing, take action. With many creditable prevention treatments coming to light it is important to start now. Seek guidance and educate yourself on your options from a reputable hair loss clinic.
2018 research continues to offer strong awareness on the treatment options:
PRP procedures performed in a series of three (3) sessions in conjunction with LLLT therapy and topical treatments are producing substantial results.
Blood testing. Vitamin and mineral deficiencies are now being recognized as a potential cause of hair loss than ever before. Seek a provider offering lab testing to examine specific conditions, which can lead to hair loss if levels are not optimal.
Finasteride. This oral drug works by reducing dihydrotestosterone (DHT) levels significantly. Finasteride is a long-term treatment option or else the hair loss will resume after discontinuation. Finasteride is not safe for women of childbearing age.
Minoxidil. This topical hair medication works best when compounded with other prescribed ingredients specific to your hair loss condition.
Matrix, grafts, and tissue skin are all terms synonymous with applying non-growing hair to the top of one’s head. 2017 offered an array of natural undetectable hair for men and women alike and 2018 brings a refreshing new look to these options as well. Do not underestimate how amazing you could feel with a new head of hair.
Women have had the greatest advancements in hair replacement in 2018. Hair enhancements and volumizing hair options are thinner, lighter, and more natural than ever before. New silk materials and less aggressive attachment options are offering a pleasant non-damaging experience for the wearer.
During the 2017 International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery conference, members were asked what they thought would be the next technological leap in hair restoration. Among the 206 responses provided, stem cell therapies received the most common response, followed by a breakthrough in medical therapy.
In 2018, eyebrow transplants will gain popularity as well. Donor hair for transplantation can be taken from the leg or chest areas.
We will be sure to deliver more revolutionary details when we get back from this year’s AHLC conference at Opryland Hotel. If you’d like to read up on that event, please visit www.ahlc.org/annualconference.
